In Poughkeepsie, family-run Italian places are busiest on weekend evenings and around holidays, when reservations or call-ahead seating are worth it. BYOB is common at smaller restaurants in some states, with a modest corkage fee or none at all; the listing or a quick call will tell you. Wing-and-pizza shops across New York do most of their business by delivery and price wings by the piece or in fixed counts, with sauce heat adjustable on request. Catering trays, party pizzas and sheet pies need a day's notice at most places, and more around big game days.

Poughkeepsie is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Poughkeepsie is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Spettro completely blew me away. What an absolute gem. If you judged this restaurant solely by the area, youβd never expect to stumble upon one of the most refined and thoughtfully executed dining experiences in the Hudson Valley β yet there it is, quietly nestled into one of the charming neighborhoods of Poughkeepsie. And honestly, places like this are exactly why the city deserves far more credit than people give it. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere pulls you in. The restaurant is beautifully designed with a stunning wraparound outdoor deck that feels perfect for a warm evening with cocktails and friends. Massive windows surround the space, flooding the restaurant with natural light and creating an open, airy, almost cinematic atmosphere. Inside is equally impressive, blending modern elegance with warmth, and giving guests a direct view of the chefs preparing each dish with precision and care. Now letβs talk about the service! Impeccable across the board. The staff were knowledgeable, charismatic, witty, and genuinely passionate about the menu. They had the perfect balance of professionalism and personality, guiding us through the experience so naturally that someho

I have been to Spettro numerous times and it has never disappointed. It's not a large space so I would recommend reservations. The service has always been great but it's the food that keeps me coming back. With a varied and changing menu you can always find something you like. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the bartenders. The cocktails are made to perfection and some good conversation. My wife's Moscow Mule was great and my extra dry vodka martini with a twist was to perfection.

I would give it 6 stars if I could!! Went for Valentineβs Day dinner and it did not disappoint! The vibes were super cool with nice low lighting. The waitress was so friendly and checked on us a perfect amount :) The food was AMAZING!! The calamari was seasoned wonderfully- such good spices! The chicken and short rib pasta were delicious!! Amazing flavors! For dessert we had the hazelnut gelato which brought me back to my time in Italy it was that good! Thank you and we will be back!!

Friends and I had brunch reservations a month ago and the overall impression I have of Spettro is somewhat underwhelming. The restaurant wasnβt particularly busy and our waitress was polite, but not necessarily friendly or particularly attentive-I almost felt like we were bothering her. The food was good but not great, and portions are fair for the prices. Nothing was bad, but nothing was really special or amazing, either. Cocktails and lattes were well made, but the harvest crostini app, at $19 for essentially a slice of bread with stuff on it, was disappointing and not very flavorful. My prosciutto and Asian pear app was βfine.β The pears were slightly hard, and there wasnβt much to the dish, though the thin prosciutto paired well with the pears and the bits of salt. There was no micro basil as advertised on the menu. The entrees were well prepared. The Spettro benedict I ordered was tasty, and the potatoes were delicious, and my friends enjoyed their risotto carbonara and pan con tomate toast. However, with the disappointing appetizers and the inattentive/lukewarm service, no real greeting upon entering, and no βthank youβ on the way out, Iβm not really eager to try this place

Great, modern Italian eatery that is aesthetically pleasing, has great service, and very good food. We drove up to meet our son for his birthday as he attends a local college and he wanted to go here. Calamari was delicious - melted in your mouth with spicy peppers being a palate option. The pizzas - we got The Fungii and Margarita - both wonderful with prefectly coal fired crust and were lightly dusted with salt crystals = yum. Our older son got the scallops and loved them. My husband got a cheese burger, he was the only one unsatisfied and said so to our waitress. They were so nice and immediately took it off the bill and said they would refire. He ate our pizza and decided not to, but the manager came over and was sincere and kind. Overall, highly recommend if looking for a modern, delicious alternative to your typical Italian restaurant that you can get anywhere. Next time I will try a pasta dish as they have a unique variety, but I wasn't sure I should try.
